Kidz 2000 - About us

We are a well known and established casting agency that provides leading reputable local and international production houses and advertising agencies with cast and characters. In registering with us, you/your child will be introduced into a whole new world that will develop confidence, communication skills and self-esteem.

The following is intended to tell you more about our agency and to help you understand how things work in this industry. Peak season runs from September to April.

There is no registration fee payable when registering with Kidz & Modelz 2000.

On registering, we need to take photographs and have 'Z-Cards' produced. (A 'Z-Card' is a card with a display of photos and details of the character.) The cost is R200. The portfolio must be paid in full before the shoot. (No exceptions!)

The 'Z-Cards' are now distributed to various production houses and advertising agencies with which we work. They in turn contact us with their casting requirements or with the names of specific characters they would like to see.

We are not able to guarantee anyone work, but we are able to guarantee that we will distribute the 'Z-Cards' and actively promote you/your child with the exposure needed with the organizations with whom we do business.

In the case of children, height is very important. Please measure your child every 3 months and phone us with the new measurement. It will save you a lot of time and embarrassment - getting to a casting to be told that your child has grown 6cm in the last 6 months.

Our 'Z-Cards' are only updated every year. Should you/your child's hairstyle change dramatically during the year, please contact us to have new 'Z-Cards' printed.

Important, be ready to travel a lot. If you cannot attend or take your child to castings, which is sometimes required at very short notice, please reconsider registering. If after you find it too much, or your child is no longer enjoying it, and you would like to take a few months off, please let us know well in advance. This is to assist us from not constantly having to make excuses for those who do not attend a casting when a production house has specifically requested that character.

Often, especially in the case of TV-commercials, we are only permitted to send a limited number of characters fitting a certain description. If you can't make it for any reason please let us now so that we can send someone else. By not telling us, you are taking an opportunity away from another person.

Invest in a good map of Cape Town - something we all should have. It is often difficult to explain exactly how to get to a casting and locations change regularly. We unfortunately don't have the time during peak season to explain to parents how to get there.

Be prepared to wait in a queue at castings, take a book with to read to your child etc. Being early will sometimes put you first on the list. The casting itself can take between 5 - 10 minutes. They have a specific look in mind and that is what they are looking for. Not the most beautiful girl or boy! If we haven't heard from the agency within a week, then the casting was unsuccessful. They unfortunately only phone us with the names of those that they want to use.

Please be on time for shoots, and don't worry if they are late, you are being paid from the time they asked you to arrive till the time they are finished with you. And moms please don't interfere with the shoots, they know what they want and what they are doing.

Please phone us as soon as your child has finished at a shoot. We need the hours for invoicing - a half-day is four hours and a full day eight hours. Also please tell us the location as we can't claim for petrol after we have invoiced. Petrol gets worked out from Cape Town and not Bellville!

Please take note : If you/your child have been booked for a shoot and you fail to turn up, a R100 penalty will be payable by you.

Please take your own snacks to the shoots, it is not their job to supply you or your child with food or drinks although most of the production companies will have refreshments for those that are working on set - not the parents! In the case of TV commercial however, refreshments are supplied to everyone. Only ONE parent per child is allowed on set!

We receive payment for work done approximately 90 - 120 days after the shoot, occasionally it is sooner. As soon as we receive payment we will pay you. If you haven't heard from us within 120 days of the shoot, you are welcome to call us. Please keep a diary of the shoot dates.

IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT THE CLIENT CONTACTS YOU DIRECTLY, PLEASE INFORM US OTHERWISE WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO INVOICE THEM AND YOU WILL HAVE NO CLAIM ON YOUR MONEY.
Remember they don't have a contract with you; they have a contract with Kidz & Modelz 2000.

Given our commitment to promote you/your child, it is a requirement that on registering with Kidz & Modelz 2000, you agree and acknowledge that you are not allowed to join another agency for a period of 2 years. Should this arrangement be broken, it is agreed that we shall be entitled to claim any losses we may suffer as a result thereof together with all the costs we may incur in instituting legal action.
